Verify a license
You can verify the license of our agency, or of any producer you work with, through the Illinois Department of Insurance or the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR). Every reseller partner who quotes or sells through our portal must hold an active Illinois property & casualty producer license.
How we are paid
We are paid commissions by the insurance companies we place policies with. Commission is usually a percentage of the premium, and the amount may vary by insurance company, product and policy. Our licensed partners may receive part of the commission on policies they help place. You may ask us for more information about our compensation at any time.
If we ever charge an agency service fee, it will be disclosed to you in writing before you buy, and you will be told what it is for. A fee is never required to get a quote.
Anti-rebating
Illinois law (215 ILCS 5/151) prohibits insurers and producers from offering rebates of premium, or any valuable consideration or inducement not specified in the policy, to persuade someone to buy insurance. We and our partners do not offer gifts, cash back or other inducements to buy a policy.
Quotes are indicative
Quotes provided on this website, by our staff, or by partners through our portal are indicative estimates based on the information available at the time. The final premium and eligibility are set by the insurance company after underwriting, which may include motor vehicle records, claims history reports and, where an insurer uses them, credit-based insurance scores. A quote is not a policy, and coverage begins only after the insurance company binds the policy and you receive confirmation.
Insurance company financial ratings
We work with more than one insurance company, and their financial strength ratings vary. Ratings are issued by independent rating organizations and can change over time. A rating is an opinion of an insurer's financial strength, not a guarantee. Ask us about the rating of any company we quote for you.
SR-22 filings
An SR-22 is a certificate of financial responsibility that an insurance company files with the Illinois Secretary of State, when the state requires it, to show that you carry at least the required liability coverage. The SR-22 is filed by the insurer; it is not insurance by itself and does not add coverage to your policy. Insurers may charge a fee to file it, and not every insurer offers SR-22 filings.
You must keep the policy in force for the full period the Secretary of State requires. If the policy is canceled or lapses, the insurer is required to notify the Secretary of State, which can lead to suspension of your driving privileges. Only the Secretary of State can tell you whether and how long you need an SR-22. Learn more on our SR-22 insurance page.
