Accessibility Statement

Everyone should be able to shop for and manage auto insurance. We want this website to be usable by people of all abilities, including people who use assistive technology.

Our commitment

Lakeshore Insurances aims for this website to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including people who are blind or have low vision, are deaf or hard of hearing, or have motor, speech or cognitive disabilities. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, and we review the site as we add and change content.

Measures we take

  • Semantic page structure with headings, landmarks and a "Skip to content" link.
  • Pages are designed to be used with a keyboard, with a clearly visible focus indicator.
  • Form fields have visible labels, required fields are identified, and error messages are shown in text next to the field and summarized at the top of the form.
  • Text and background colors are chosen with WCAG AA contrast in mind, and we avoid relying on color alone to convey information.
  • Text can be resized and pages reflow on small screens without horizontal scrolling.
  • Icons are paired with text, and links and buttons have descriptive text.
  • Animations are reduced when your device is set to prefer reduced motion.
  • Frequently asked questions use standard, keyboard-accessible disclosure controls.

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible:

  • Policy documents, application packets and ID cards are produced as printable pages and PDFs. Some documents prepared by insurance companies may not be fully accessible.
  • Links to third-party websites, such as insurance companies and government agencies, are outside our control and may not meet the same standards.
  • Some areas of the reseller partner portal are complex data-entry screens that we continue to test and improve.

If you run into any of these, we will provide the information another way.
